About Loutra and our editorial standards

Updated 8 September 2026

Published by the maker of Loutra

Loutra is an independent addiction and sobriety tracking app. Articles on this site are published under Loutra’s editorial responsibility. This blog belongs to the maker of the app it describes: download links lead to our own product.

The app offers personal tracking, a virtual otter and everyday tools. It is free to download with an optional subscription. It does not provide diagnosis or treatment.

Traceable sources and explicit limits

We prioritize public health services — including the NHS, HSE, Santé publique France and Tabac info service — and peer-reviewed research. Each article lists the documents it cites. A study about smoking cannot establish a result for every addiction.

An average cannot predict your experience. We distinguish public health guidance, study findings and interpretation. References do not constitute clinical validation of Loutra.

Writing, translations and corrections

AI tools are used in preparing text and translations. Blog illustrations are also AI-generated and selected to accompany the topic. They are editorial illustrations, not medical diagrams. These tools are not healthcare professionals. We do not present these articles as reviewed or approved by a doctor.

The publication date records the original article. A substantive revision carries an updated date; it does not imply that new research has been published. Translated versions may be updated at different times.

To report an error, email contact@loutra.app with the article URL, the relevant passage and a source where possible. Please avoid including personal health information.

Tracking in the app and your data

You can start without an account. An optional account enables backup and social features. AI chat uses a remote service and exchanges are retained for 90 days. The privacy policy details data processing and retention.
